Signup band
An email signup band on the homepage, with the heading, copy and fine print written on one page. It hides itself from members and from sites with memberships switched off.
Your introduction already carries a signup field. This band gives email its own moment further down the page, in your own words.
Create it
#home-newsletterMake sure memberships are on: Settings → Membership, with Access set to something other than Nobody.
Go to Pages → New page and write the heading as the title.
Under Tags, add #home-newsletter.
Publish.

What each field becomes

The body is a good place for the honest promise: how often you write, what a reader gets, and how easy it is to leave.
Who sees it
- A signed-out visitor sees the band.
- A signed-in member does not. Asking someone to subscribe twice is a small insult, so Quiet leaves it out.
- Nobody, if memberships are switched off in Ghost. The band and its page stay invisible until you turn them on.
What happens after they subscribe
Ghost's Portal handles the signup and the confirmation. The band replaces itself with a short confirmation in the site's language, and the reader is not sent anywhere. The wording and colours of Portal itself come from Settings → Portal.
Where the signups show up
Signups from this band are labelled homepage in Settings → Members, so you can tell them apart from the ones that came from your introduction, your footer or your newsletter page.
Two bands, if you want them
Nothing stops you publishing two pages tagged #home-newsletter, and both will render at their own places in the stack. It is rarely a good idea, but it is there if you want a signup near the top and another at the foot.
