Photo strip
A full-width strip of photographs on the homepage, built from image and gallery cards in one page's body, with a caption and a pause control.
A band of photographs running to both edges of the screen. It is a teaser: a taste of your photography with a link to the gallery beside it.
As with the logo strip, the page body is the band.
Create it
#home-galleryGo to Pages → New page. The title becomes the small uppercase label, for example Photographs.
In the body, add your pictures. Image cards and gallery cards both work, and you can mix them: Quiet flattens them all into one row.
Write the caption in Meta data → Meta description.
Under Tags, add #home-gallery.
Publish.

Why the caption is the meta description
It keeps the body free to be nothing but pictures, and that is what lets the strip be a plain scrolling row rather than something assembled by JavaScript. The practical benefit is for your readers: the strip still works with JavaScript off, and with motion switched off.
Moving through it
- Swipe or scroll sideways on a touch screen.
- Tab into the strip with a keyboard and use the arrow keys: the row is reachable as a group, so photographs past the edge of the screen are not stranded.
- If the pictures overflow, the strip drifts slowly on its own and a pause button appears beside the label. A visitor whose device asks for reduced motion gets a still strip instead.
These photographs do not open full screen
Deliberately. This band is a teaser, and its pictures are not links, which also keeps the homepage from gaining a dozen duplicate links. Full-screen viewing belongs to the gallery page itself, where a reader has chosen to look at photographs.
The "Visit the gallery" link
The band shows a link to your gallery once a page exists at /gallery/. Build that page with the Gallery template: see Photo gallery.
The band needs a body
With no pictures in the body, the band renders nothing. The same applies on a members-only page: signed-out readers see no strip.
Portfolio band
Four projects on the homepage as a numbered list, with your starred project first, drawn from the same pages as the portfolio index.
The archive
Your article archive at /articles/: posts filed under month headings, a filter row of your five most-used tags, twelve posts a page, and where your RSS feeds live.
