Compatibility
Signal runs on Ghost 6.x (v6.0.0+) and modern browsers. Check your Ghost version, what the persistent player needs, and what to do if you're still on v5.x.
Using Ghost(Pro) or managed hosting?
If you use Ghost(Pro) or another managed Ghost hosting provider (such as MagicPages, Midnight, DigitalPress, Synaps Media, Gloat, etc.), your Ghost version is always kept up to date automatically. You can safely install the latest Signal version without worrying about compatibility.
Ghost version requirement
Signal requires Ghost 6.x (v6.0.0 or later). Only the latest version of Signal is distributed, so there's no version to choose — keep your Ghost installation up to date and always install the newest Signal.
Ghost v5.x is not supported
Ghost itself blocks installation of Signal on Ghost v5.x. If you're still on Ghost v5.x, upgrade your Ghost installation to Ghost 6.x before installing Signal.
Browser support
Signal targets the latest two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on desktop and mobile. The persistent mini-player, transcripts, chapters, and the browser-local Library all rely on modern browser features and degrade gracefully on older engines (for example, the player falls back to a normal page reload when soft navigation isn't available).
How to check your Ghost version
Not sure which Ghost version you're running? Follow these steps:
Log in to your Ghost Admin panel (typically at your-site.com/ghost).
Click on the gear icon (⚙️) at the bottom of the left sidebar to open Settings.
Scroll down to the very bottom of the settings page and look for the About section. Your Ghost version number is displayed there (e.g., Ghost v6.27.0).
