Brand
The branding settings cover the core visual identity of your publication. These are native Ghost settings that reflect globally across your site, and Meridian honours every one of them.
Accent color
The accent color is used to highlight key elements across your site — links inside articles, the "Save story" filled-bookmark glyph, the underline under active filter chips, and the focus ring on every interactive control. It also flows through to Ghost's native comments widget.
Go to Settings → Design & branding in Ghost Admin and click Customize.
Under Brand → Accent color, click the color picker and choose a new color.
Click Save to apply the change.
Single value across light and dark mode
Ghost's accent color is a single value applied to both light and dark modes. Pick one with adequate contrast on both your light and dark paper tones — body text and surface tokens already clear WCAG AAA on every Background palette preset, so the accent just needs to read clearly on both.
Publication icon
The Publication icon is used to visually identify your site in the Ghost Portal, browser tabs (favicon), and search results.
Go to Settings → Design & branding in Ghost Admin and click Customize.
Under Brand → Publication icon, click the icon area and select your image file. A square 512×512 PNG works best.
Click Save to apply the change.
Publication logo
The Publication logo is displayed in the site masthead. If no logo is uploaded, your site title is rendered as wordmark text in the heading font.
Go to Settings → Design & branding in Ghost Admin and click Customize.
Under Brand → Publication logo, click the logo area and select your logo file.
Click Save to apply the change.
Logo tips
To ensure your brand looks its best in Meridian, we recommend:
- Orientation — a horizontal logo suits the masthead best.
- Dimensions — minimum height 32 pixels; the theme automatically serves a
2xsrcset entry to retina screens. - Background — a transparent PNG or SVG is recommended so the logo sits cleanly on every paper palette.
- Dark mode — see the Dark mode logo theme setting below if your primary logo has dark text that becomes hard to read in dark mode.
Publication cover
The Publication cover is used as the Open Graph image when someone shares your homepage on social media or in chat apps.
Go to Settings → Design & branding in Ghost Admin and click Customize.
Under Brand → Publication cover, click the cover area and select your image file. 1200×630 is the safe Open Graph size.
Click Save to apply the change.
Typography
Ghost's Design & branding panel includes a custom-font picker for Heading font and Body font. Meridian honours this picker — whatever you choose here is loaded and applied as the site's typefaces.
Go to Settings → Design & branding in Ghost Admin and click Customize.
Under Typography, choose your preferred heading and body fonts from the pickers.
Click Save to apply the change.
Meridian ships its own curated typefaces
Meridian also includes its own Font heading and Font body theme settings (under Site wide), with 11 editorial typefaces picked specifically for long-form reading — 9 self-hosted variable fonts (Source Serif 4, Newsreader, Fraunces, Roboto Slab, Inter, Literata, EB Garamond, IBM Plex Sans, Public Sans), Charter as self-hosted static weights, and a System Serif fallback. These are the curated default.
Precedence: when Ghost's custom-font picker is set, it wins. When it's empty (the default), Meridian's font_heading / font_body settings apply. See Site wide settings.
Installation
You can upload, activate, and manage Meridian directly from Ghost Admin. This is where you control the design and appearance of your publication.
