Update theme
Update Signal safely — download the latest signal.zip, upload it with the same file name to keep your settings, and activate it in Ghost Admin.
To keep your site running smoothly and securely, we recommend that you always use the most recent theme version. Updates often include critical compatibility with the newest Ghost versions, as well as performance enhancements and styling refinements.
Before you update
Upload the new zip with the exact same file name as your current active theme (signal.zip) so Ghost keeps your existing theme settings. And note that any custom edits made directly to theme files (outside Code injection) are erased on update — keep a backup of your modifications.
To update the theme
Follow these steps to safely upload and activate the latest version of your theme.
Download the latest version
Download the latest version of the theme — only the newest Signal is distributed, so there's no version to pick. Keep your Ghost installation up to date first; see the Compatibility Guide if you're unsure about your Ghost version.
Open Design & branding
Navigate to the Design & branding settings in your Ghost Admin.
Upload theme
In the top right corner, click the Upload theme button and select your updated theme file.
Glossary
Plain-language definitions of the terms Signal's docs use — episode, guest, host, show, internal tag, persistent player, transcript, chapters, listen links, Library, and more.
For developers
A short appendix for self-builders — Signal's build commands, tech stack, file map, the i18n workflow, and the stable data-* hook contract.
