Site wide
Quiet's four site-wide settings: the colour scheme, a dark-mode logo, the contact form endpoint, and the floating video player.
Four settings that apply everywhere on your site. Quiet keeps its settings deliberately few: most of what the theme can do is driven by your content rather than by a panel.
How to get here:
Go to Settings → Design & branding.
Click Customize, then open the Theme tab (Brand beside it holds Ghost's own logo, colour and fonts).
Open the Site wide section.
Save, then reload
Ghost applies theme settings the moment you save, but your browser may be holding the old page. If a change does not show, reload with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R.
Color Scheme
Whether your site is light, dark, or follows each visitor's own preference.
The scheme is applied before the page paints, so there is no flash of the wrong colours on the first load. Quiet also tells the browser which scheme is in use, so native scrollbars, dropdown menus and form controls match the page instead of staying stubbornly light.
The icon shows where you are going
In System mode the button shows the scheme it will switch to, not the one you are in: a moon on a light page, a sun on a dark one.
With JavaScript switched off
Light and Dark still apply, because the choice is written into the page itself. System falls back to the light design, since a visitor's own device preference cannot be read without JavaScript.
Dark Mode Logo
An optional second logo, shown only while the site is in dark mode. Useful when your usual logo is dark ink on transparency.
Make sure a Publication logo is set in Brand first.
In Site wide, upload your light-on-dark version under Dark mode logo.
Save, then switch your device or the header button to dark mode to check it.
It needs the ordinary logo too
This setting swaps one logo for another. With no publication logo set in Brand, neither logo renders and you get your site title as text in both schemes.
Both logos are capped to the same height, so they can be different widths without the header shifting.
Contact Form Endpoint
The address your contact form posts to. Quiet has no server of its own, so a working form needs a form service, and pasting its URL here is the whole setup.
Create a form at a service such as Formspree, Basin or Getform.
Copy the endpoint URL it gives you, for example https://formspree.io/f/abcdwxyz.
Paste it into Contact form endpoint and save.
Leave it blank and the Contact page shows a tidy email card instead, using the support address from Settings → Portal. Nothing looks broken either way.
Which services work
Formspree, Basin and Getform work as they come. FormSubmit and Netlify Forms work with a caveat, and Web3Forms is not compatible because it requires an extra hidden key. The full matrix, including what changes about spam protection, is in Contact page.
Persistent Player
On by default. When a visitor is watching a film and scrolls away, the video shrinks into a corner and keeps playing, and it follows them if they open another page.
Switch it off and video stays where it is on the page: readers still watch, the film just stops when they scroll past it or navigate away.
It also switches off page-to-page playback
The floating player is what lets a film keep playing while a reader browses. With this setting off, every link is an ordinary page load. See The persistent player.
