Update theme
Update Quiet safely: download the latest quiet.zip, upload it with the same file name to keep your settings, and activate it in Ghost Admin.
Updating is the same three clicks as installing, with one detail that matters: keep the file name the same.
Keep the file name quiet.zip
Ghost identifies a theme by its folder name inside the zip. Upload quiet.zip over quiet.zip and Ghost replaces the theme, keeping your theme settings and your active theme. Upload quiet-2.zip, quiet-new.zip or quiet(1).zip and Ghost installs a second theme at default settings, which then has to be activated and reconfigured. If your browser renamed the download, rename it back before uploading.
Download the latest version
Get the newest quiet.zip from the downloads portal at portal.enova.studio, using the email address you bought with. Only the current version is distributed, so there is nothing to choose.
Upload it with the same file name
Go to Settings → Theme → Change theme → Upload theme and choose the zip. Ghost warns you that a theme with that name already exists and asks whether to overwrite it. Say yes: that is the update.
Activate
If Quiet was already your active theme, it stays active and the new version is live immediately. If Ghost asks, click Activate.
Then reload your site with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R.
Check the release notes for one-time steps
Read the changelog for the version you have just installed. Most releases need nothing from you. When one does, for example a changed routes file, it is called out there.
If something looks wrong afterwards
- Hard refresh first:
Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R. Most "it did not update" is a cached stylesheet. - Check you have one Quiet, not two, at Settings → Theme → Change theme. If there are two, activate the newest and delete the other.
- Check the routes file if a section 404s. Re-upload it at Settings → Labs → Beta features if a release changed it.
- A missing homepage band usually means the page behind it was reverted to a draft. Publishing it brings the band back.

Your content is never at risk
A theme holds layout and styling, not content. Uploading a new version cannot touch your posts, pages, tags, members or settings, so an update is always safe to try and always safe to reverse by re-uploading the previous zip.
